Why convert JPG to PNG?
PNG is a lossless format, so it's a good choice when you plan to edit an image again and again, add text or graphics, or upload somewhere that requires PNG. Every time a JPG is edited and saved, it loses a little more quality. A PNG doesn't.
Will it make my photo better?
No converter can restore detail a JPG has already lost. Converting stops further loss from that point on. Your PNG will look the same as the JPG, but the file will usually be larger, since PNG doesn't compress photos as aggressively.
Can I get a transparent background?
JPG files have no transparency, so the converted PNG keeps the same solid background. To remove a background you need an editing tool. Once the background is removed, PNG is the right format to save it in.
Frequently asked questions
Is JPG to PNG conversion lossless?
The conversion itself is lossless: the PNG contains exactly the pixels of your JPG. It can't recover detail already lost when the JPG was created.
Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly, while JPG throws away detail you can't easily see. Photos are often 3–10× larger as PNG.
Is there a limit on how many files I can convert?
No. Convert as many as your device can handle, then download them as a zip.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
